AJAX IFV
A next-gen tracked IFV for the modern fight
The AJAX IFV arrives at DSEI 2025 as a logical step for Britain’s armoured fleet. It builds on the Ajax family already fielded and proven. Consequently, it raises lethality, survivability, and digital integration for multi-domain operations.
Why the AJAX IFV matters to NATO forces
The AJAX IFV targets interoperability from day one. It aligns with NATO-first priorities and EU frameworks. Therefore, it supports faster mission planning, clearer data exchange, and simpler coalition sustainment.

UK-built uncrewed turret and digital backbone
At its core, the AJAX IFV integrates an uncrewed turret designed at Lockheed Martin’s Ampthill site in Bedfordshire. The turret draws on Ajax and Warrior CSP investments. As a result, it improves crew protection, modularity, and growth paths. It also plugs into the vehicle’s proven electronic architecture for rapid sensor-to-shooter effects.
Lethality, modularity, and upgrade space
The AJAX IFV uses a modular approach for weapons, sights, and effectors. Hence, users can tailor payloads for urban combat, long-range fires, or counter-UAS roles. Digital design also eases future refresh cycles and software-led improvements.
Shared platform, simpler logistics
Because the family shares a common base platform, the AJAX IFV reduces training time and maintenance burden. Crews switch roles faster. Moreover, common spares and diagnostics shorten supply chains and help deploy units sooner.
Sovereign capability, jobs, and regional growth
Rooted in South Wales, the AJAX IFV underpins sovereign manufacturing and UK industrial resilience. The programme supports about 4,100 jobs across 230 companies, of which 20% are SMEs. Furthermore, GDLS-UK has invested around £120 million to deepen local capacity and skills.

Industrial footprint that scales
The AJAX IFV strengthens the UK’s defence ecosystem and aligns with the Defence Industrial Strategy. Thus, it keeps sensitive know-how at home while creating exportable value for partners.
Exports and market outlook
UK policy supports the pitch of the AJAX IFV to customers in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Reported addressable markets exceed £10 billion. Consequently, the platform could become a flagship British export with robust support pathways.
Leadership views and programme trajectory
Industry leaders frame the AJAX IFV as a fusion of sovereign innovation and battlefield need. They highlighted interoperability, adaptability, and exportability as core requirements. Looking ahead, spiral upgrades, new mission kits, and coalition integration should keep the vehicle relevant.
